Green Your Streets: Community Events for Greener, Safer Neighbourhoods
Green Your Streets is a free community event series designed to help residents, community groups, and local organisations take practical action to make streets greener, healthier, and more resilient to climate change.
Following a series of Green Your Streets sessions earlier this year, we are now entering the intervention building stage.
A number of rain gardens and green enhancements are being planned in community spaces across Slough – and local residents are at the heart of this project.
We are inviting people who live, work or spend time in these neighbourhoods to help shape, plant and care for these new green and blue spaces, ensuring they can be enjoyed for years to come.
Come along to learn more, share ideas and find out how to can get involved in transforming these unused spaces into green and blue havens for the community and nature.
There will be three stages for everyone to get involved at any point.

Our project 'catchment' area
Project Sponge is working specifically in the Chalvey Ditches and Salt Hill Stream areas.
These ‘catchments’ have been specifically chosen to build on previous work in the location and to try more practical, innovative approaches in a changing climate.
We’re asking residents in those areas to come together to share, connect and learn from one another, to benefit their neighbourhood.
If you’d like to tell us what you’d like to see change in the area, complete our short survey here.
Volunteering
There are many community groups in the local area, where residents can get together regularly, and volunteer their time to help. Getting out in the fresh air and helping improve the local area, is a great way to meet people and improve wellbeing….and we even manage to have fun while we’re at it!
The Salt Hill Park volunteers group meets in Salt Hill Park every Thursday at 10am.
