What is Project Sponge?

We’re bringing people together, to work with nature and water to create a stronger environment for the residents in the Chalvey Ditches and Salt Hill Stream study areas.

Changes in our climate and the environment mean we’re facing an increased risk of flooding. We’re using natural techniques to absorb and control water, reintroducing nature into our environment, to help make our community more resilient to flood in future.

Tell your story

We want to hear your story!
If you’ve experienced flooding in Slough, or want to talk about how the landscape has changed near you, we want to hear all about it.
Gathering rich and interesting information about the local area will not only build a more detailed picture of the history, but it will also help inform the future plans too.
We’re looking for first-hand experience, pictures, anecdotes, and revelations to bring the story of Slough to life.

What’s happening near you?

There are plenty of opportunities right on your doorstep. You can get involved in volunteering groups, join one of our regular Climate Action Cafes, or Flood Action Groups, or even get out and about and help us gather information about the area.

Climate Action Cafes are happening in various places across the project area,  so you can choose the most convenient time and location for you.

Flood Action Groups are there to represent the voice of the community to alleviate their own risk of flooding. If you’d like to join our wider community meetings or join a flood action group contact NFF on 01299 403055 or [email protected]

All other events will be listed on our events page – take a look to see what’s on near you.
